CEMA Welcomes New Aboriginal Liaison

Fort McMurray, Alberta – The Cumulative Environmental Management Association (CEMA) is pleased to announce Bryan Fayant as its new Aboriginal Community Engagement Liaison. Mr. Fayant is originally from Fishing Lake, Alberta and has been a respected and accomplished leader in the Métis community for the past 30 years.

Of all the multi-stakeholders groups operating in the Wood Buffalo Region, CEMA has the largest Aboriginal Caucus, including First Nations, Métis Locals and the Nistawoyou Friendship Centre. Working through the Traditional Knowledge Working Group and Aboriginal Coordinating Committee member representatives tackle the important research and activities outlined in their 2013 work plan. Mr. Fayant will play an important role as the Aboriginal Community Engagement Liaison in the development and execution of CEMA Aboriginal activities.

“CEMA Aboriginal Caucus is the main game in town for First Nations and Métis groups concerned about the cumulative effects of oilsands development. Its research and activities have been uniquely carried out through CEMA programs and working groups for over 13 years” stated Glen Semenchuk, CEMA Executive Director. “Having Bryan join our team as the Aboriginal Liaison is key to our continuing success for the years ahead.”

CEMA is a multi-stakeholder society that is a key advisor to Government and is committed to respectful, inclusive dialogue in the development of recommendations to manage the cumulative environmental effects of regional development on air, land, water and biodiversity.  For more information please visit www.cemaonline.ca
